Hello, I’m Serena and I am a Counseling Intern through Capella University obtaining my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have completed 100 practicum hours with In Truth Mental Health Counseling and I am excited to be working on my 600-hour internship here as well! I have educational experience working at Highland Hospital as a behavioral psychiatric specialist and have taken extra courses on Global Health and Safety through Harvard University. I am currently a member of the New York Mental Health Counselors Association (NYMHCA) and hold a position in the Diversity Committee. I have also obtained certifications from national honor societies such as Chi Sigma Iota as well as the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).

My therapeutic style aligns with a strength-based and goal-orientated approach that will provide an environment that ensures your safety and priorities. I believe that you have what it takes to discover your true self and embrace your strengths, even when it seems impossible. I plan to work as hard as you work to meet your goals. I will help you see how you may be getting in the way of your successes. I also promise to be present and understanding of the hard stuff you share with me. My role as your therapist is to help you feel heard and understood, not only in your therapy but in the real world as well. Together, we will discover your strengths and help you to get your wants heard and your needs met.

Some fun facts about me: I play electric violin and enjoy playing board games with friends. I have two dogs, Xena and Baylee who get every ounce of my time since I enjoy training them to be the best versions of themselves too.
